Summary

'I swear, the beds keep getting smaller everywhere we go,' Max said flippantly. It didn't actually bother her much; she wasn't on the road for comfort, but for the experience. That included crappy motels with beds barely big enough for even a Max-sized adult.
It was Kate she worried about. When she had promised her a tea shop tour of the world, she was pretty sure Kate had a different vision in mind; nice hotels with comfortable beds for a start.

Kate had barely registered the name when the door shuddered open and a meek teenager walked in, dragging her trainers along the plasticky floor. Her eyes darted towards Kate curiously, a grin melting across her face.
“Hey.”“Max!” Squeaked Kate, running to embrace her. They stayed in the hug for several minutes, but it wasn’t awkward; Kate found the comfortable silence a reprieve from her mind’s nagging. She made a half-hearted attempt at fixing her appearance, slightly flustered under the brunette’s unconditionally warm smile. Behind it, though, something had changed - a wan, soulless look that was normally accompanied by frequent sobbing; Kate knew all too well about that. But she hadn’t seen Max cry once.

Max was unable to let go of those nightmares, believing them to be more than what they were. She returns to Arcadia Bay after moving away, not seeking answers, but merely seeking an escape from her parents. Along the way however, she may end up finding answers even when she isn't looking for them, after all, miracles appear in the strangest place.
